TAKING ON WALL STREET

In 2008 we learned what can happen when Wall Street is unregulated and out of control. As a nation, we must work together to ensure that illegal behavior will never again jeopardize the financial security of everyday working Americans.

I am a fierce supporter of funding, protecting and empowering the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I support breaking up banks that are too big to fail.

I support aggressively investigating and prosecuting corporate crime.

I support postal banking, where the United States Postal Service will expand it's service to customers to create savings and checking accounts and provide check cashing services.

I support implementing a tax on Wall Street speculation at a rate of 0.5% for stocks, 0.1% for bonds and 0.005% for derivatives this tax will directly fund tuition free colleges.

I support a 21st century Glass-Steagall act, to separate commercial and investment banks.

I support the creation of democratically run public banks, to serve in a transparent fashion and expand choices for consumers.

I support capping credit card interest rates at 15%.

We live in the richest country in the world, yet most people do not benefit from this, due to our regressive financial system, that protects and enriches the most powerful members of society.
