Campaign finance reform is a non-partisan issue. Neither conservative nor progressive voters are represented in our current political climate. In a society where corporations are considered people and money is considered speech, it is no mystery why so many ordinary Americans are ignored and their needs neglected. We must have an overhaul of our campaign finance system. To do this, we must add a 28th amendment to the U.S Constitution to ban corporate money from politics.
The future of the U.S economy is in clean energy. By investing in wind and solar energy we can revitalize our economy, protect the environment and lead the world in exciting new innovations.
Nothing is more important in a society than agriculture. Sadly, today small family farms are being driven out of business by giant corporations. I support agricultural reform, to promote small independent family farms and to strive for a revolution in sustainable, organic farming.
The health of our society is dependent on the health of individuals. We cannot claim to be a healthy, compassionate or humane nation and deny people health care, or force people into financial ruin to pay for health crises. I support a single payer Medicare for All, health care system.
Our justice system is out of control. The U.S has by far the largest prison population in the world. Here, in the United States we pride ourselves in being the "land of the free." Together we can build a justice system that reflects our values.
Utah, has a long and proud history of family values. However, our economic system does not reflect our values. Together, we can build a nation that provides public child care as well as paid parental and sick leave.
In today's America, graduating from college does not guarantee a promising career. For too many students, higher education guarantees devastating debt and limited opportunities to participate in the market. As a society, we must bail out our students from crippling debt and offer tuition free college and trade schools for all students.
The military industrial complex and the idea of American exceptionalism have influenced our foreign policy to be inhumane and outside of international law. Peace is a universal value. Together, we can create a foreign policy that is humane, legal and puts human lives over corporate greed.
For generations, brave men and women have sacrificed their lives for our society. These courageous people are often exploited and mistreated by the society that they protect. This is unacceptable. As a society, we can adopt policies that protect those that protect all of us.
Mental health is the core issue that determines the happiness and functionality of society. Sadly, in the United States, we do not have a mental health system that promotes good mental health. Together, we can teach and support everyone, to ensure that we have a safe, happy and functioning nation.
Workers are the backbone of our nation. Sadly, in today's United States, many workers work dangerous jobs and long hours without a living wage or benefits. A society that values human life and hard work protects its workers.
LGBTQIA+ rights are a serious, modern, civil rights issue. Due to the hard work and determination of our sisters and brothers, many gains have been made. However, our work is far from over. The LGBTQIA+ community still faces discrimination and hate crimes on a much larger scale than their cis and straight sisters and brothers. Together, we can ensure that all people are valued, respected and safe.
Native Americans have been the victims of genocide, discrimination, hate crimes, forced assimilation and thievery. It's time for the U.S Government to adopt compassionate policies that protect the sovereignty and dignity of Native Americans.
Our nation has faced a long history of people fighting to participate in voting, from the women's suffrage movement, to the fight against Jim Crow to modern times of fighting voter ID laws and ensuring that polling places are accessible to the poor, working class and disabled. Unfortunately, the fight for the integrity of democracy is never over.
Disabled Americans are the most vulnerable people in our society. Everyday, they not only face the harsh realities of living with a disability, but they also face discrimination, poverty and a lack of representation in government. Join our movement to empower millions of people, their families and our communities.
Corporate crime and welfare burdens U.S taxpayers, consumers, workers, contributes to income inequality and an aggressive foreign policy. It's time that we reform this situation.
The United States has a higher military budget than any other nation on the planet. We spend about as much as the next top seven nation's military budgets combined. We are not any safer, in fact since 2001 the U.S has been involved in military conflicts in seven different nations where terrorist organizations have become more radical and powerful since U.S interventions.
The United States is the land of immigrants. Every non-indigenous American has a story of how their family came to America. I have my own, my great grandfather fled Ukraine due to religious persecution from the Anti-Semitic Cossacks. I have benefited greatly from that choice made by him and by a nation that welcomed him.
Pro-corporate, neo-liberal trade policies have damaged the environment, promoted human rights abuses, environmental degradation, outsourcing of American jobs and an international race to the bottom. I will oppose any new neo-liberal trade agreements.
"The greatness of a nation can be judged by how it's animals are treated."- Mahatma Ghandi. One of the first ways I experienced political activism was by participating in the animal rights movement.
We are all consumers. In our current society that favors corporations over the lives of real people it's no surprise that our consumer protections are sorely lacking. We must fundamentally shift priorities in order to protect consumers from fraud and faulty and dangerous products and services.
Climate change is the most serious issue facing all life on our planet. Climate change is a major factor contributing to political unrest, famine and natural disasters. This is a non-partisan issue. Democrats or republicans, it doesn't matter, we all breathe the air, drink the water and rely on the planet for basic survival.
